Safe Haven is a host site for Americorps/Nevada Outdoor School. This partnership allows us to employ a full-time wildlife care intern each year.

THANKS TO OUR MOST RECENT SUPPORTERS—2008

Please patronize the many sponsors and prize donors of Safe Haven's First Annual Spring Dinner & Auction on April 12, 2008.

The Nevada Community Foundation (grant of $6,725) and the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation (grant of $5,000, pending further project funding) are supporting our new black bear rehab project. This multi-phase project requires extensive—and expensive—new construction.

Newmont Mining Corporation has made a very generous donation towards our participation as an AmeriCorps host site in 2008-2009. Our partnership with AmeriCorps' service-learning program enables us to hire a wildlife care intern for a year. We thank Newmont Mining not only for their support of Safe Haven, but also for their positive community involvement in northern Nevada. In addition, the On Shore Foundation of Malibu, CA has granted $2,000 to complete the funding for our AmeriCorps intern in 2008-2009.

The Wal-Mart Foundation has granted Safe Haven $1,000 in operational funding. It is much more difficult to obtain funds for general operations, as opposed to specific rescue, educational, or construction projects, so we are particularly grateful for this assistance from Wal-Mart.

We have also received a significant donation from Black Rock City, LLC (Burning Man). This important donation came at a critical time, enabling us to acquire a new transport cage/lockout for Tigger's rescue. We particularly thank Ray Allen, Executive Project Manager, for his support.

Bob Bolton, Radio Station Manager of KWNA in Winnemucca, has generously committed a year of regular advertising to Safe Haven in 2008. Be sure to tune in to KWNA (1400-AM, 92.7-FM) if you're in the area.
