Reina
HISTORY
Reina and fellow serval Goya were confiscated by six law enforcement agencies and the World Animal Protection organization when they discovered a New York resident illegally importing and selling wild cats from Africa.
Reina arrived as a kitten, weighing only nine pounds. Both Reina and Goya were housed with caracals Hantara and Sorcha and all four now enjoy playing together and sharing their 5,000-square-foot habitat. But she really enjoys play-fighting with the female caracal Sorcha, who patiently tolerates her antics.
ABOUT AFRICAN SERVALS
African servals are small, lean, wild cats who are native to the Africa savannah. They have very distinctive coats with black stripes and spots. Their hunting skills are driven by a keen sense of smell and their ability to jump as high as 12 feet in order to catch birds and other prey. Although servals generally don’t live beyond 10 years in the wild, they can live into their early twenties in captivity.
