Simba
HISTORY
Simba is one of three offspring produced by African servals Myra and Roy. They had been privately owned pets in Colorado. After developing medical issues, their owner made the decision to try and find an accredited sanctuary to accept all five of them for permanent placement. Once she agreed to have them all spayed and neutered, Safe Haven took them in.
Simba tends to be a late riser and often stays up far later into the evenings than his parents and siblings. He likes to take his time and stretch before trotting over to his food. He can usually be seen napping beside the water bowls in the late afternoons, allowing our staff members to get a good look at him.
ABOUT AFRICAN SERVALS
African servals are small, lean, wild cats who are native to the Africa savannah. They have very distinctive coats with black stripes and spots. Their hunting skills are driven by a keen sense of smell and their ability to jump as high as 12 feet in order to catch birds and other prey. Although servals generally don’t live beyond 10 years in the wild, they can live into their early twenties in captivity.
