Kahn
HISTORY
Tiger Khan is a youthful 4-year-old Siberian/Bengal hybrid tiger, bursting with energy. Transitions can be hard – but not for Khan. He immediately raced up and down his multi-level platform and took his first swim in a huge 25 x 30-foot in-ground pool – but not before moving all of his toys in first.
His previous housing was a very tiny 10 x 20-foot cage and he now has plenty of room to run, play and swim. Khan loves his new home and staff, chuffing and greeting at his keepers and visitors.
ABOUT SIBERIAN TIGERS
Siberian, or Amur, tigers are the largest cats in the world and are considered endangered, with only an estimated population of 400-500 remaining. They primarily live in Russia’s birch forests, with a life span of 10-15 years in the wild, and up to 20 years in captivity. Their survival is mostly threatened by poachers and the illegal trade of tigers and their parts. There are believed to be more privately owned tigers in the U.S. than there are in the wild.
ABOUT BENGAL TIGERS
The Bengal tiger is a population of the Panthera tigris tigris subspecies and the nominate tiger subspecies. It ranks among the biggest wild cats alive today.
