Gidget
HISTORY
Gidget, along with Petey and Mandy, was a wild orphan from Arizona who was placed with Safe Haven when she was only eight months old. The person who found the three bobcats unfortunately habituated them to humans, preventing any possibility of releasing them back into the wild. Gidget and her companions were generously transported to Safe Haven by Pilots for Paws, a Las Vegas-based non-profit organization that donates time and resources transporting rescued animals.
Gidget is the smallest of our bobcats. She frequently pesters her siblings and keepers, making cleaning their enclosure quite the challenge. She is curious about everything and is always more interested in humans than she is in eating her food.
ABOUT BOBCATS
Bobcats can be found throughout most the US and can live up to 15 years in the wild and up to 30 in captivity. Although generally solitary in the wild, female bobcats have been known to share overlapping territory. Although not considered endangered, they commonly fall victim to hunting and trapping due to their fine furs.
